GBMX TRACES IT ROOTS BACK TO THE 80s & 90s WHEN IT WAS ONE OF THE PRIMIER TRACKS OF THE MIDWEST. THE TRACKS CENTRAL LOCATION MADE IT HOME TO MANY KANSAS BORN RACERS. FROM ROBBIE SKAGGS, BOYER BROTHERS, HAHN BROTHERS AND COUNTLESS OTHER TOP AMATURES DID BATTLE REGULARY AT THE GREAT BEND BEFORE CLOSING IN 1993. THE TRACK WAS LEVELED AND SAT VACCANT UNTIL 2013. WITH THE HELP OF AMERINE CONSTRUCTION, TOM HAHN, ROB MERMIS,DON BISCEGLIA, IVAN TEDESCO & A TIRELESS GROUP OF LOCAL VOLUNTEERS THE TRACK WAS COMPLETLY REBUILT ON THE SAME GROUNDS IT ONCE STOOD.
